Decarbonization is key to combating climate change, but the term can seem complex. The Zero Emissions Innovation Centre as part of the BC Retrofit Accelerator has created a simple, visual guide for industry partners/champions to use when talking about decarbonization planning —without getting into the technical details. 

Why Does it Matter?

• Clear, Simple Starting Point: This is intended to kick off the conversation with simple everyday language that feels practical and actionable. 

• Step-by-Step Process: The 7 steps capture the high-level concepts common to many decarbonization projects, but leaves enough flexibility to adapt to different audiences and refine the details.  

• Customizable Framework: This is for you to use and evolve when communicating with non-technical audiences. Customize it, rebrand it – just let us know you’re using it! 

• The Power of Repetition: The old adage is you need to repeat a message 2-7 times before someone will act on it. Even better if it’s the same process and language from different sources.
