The ZEBx Energy Modeller Exchange

An online forum for Part 3 energy modellers based in B.C. or with building projects located in B.C.

About

The ZEBx Energy Modeller Exchange is an online forum for Part 3 energy modellers based in B.C. or with building projects located in B.C. The initiative is designed to share the deep expertise within the energy modelling community, making it more accessible and impactful across the broader industry.

The Exchange will initially consist of two components. Emulating the success of the Building to Electrification Coalition’s (B2E) email listserv, the ZEBx EME will initiate an email listserv for the energy modelling community to exchange knowledge, questions, insight, news and updates. In addition, a quarterly meeting series will be hosted to advance education and discuss key topics related to energy modelling. In the first year, both the listserv and the meetings will be chaired by Focal Engineering - a firm with extensive energy modelling experience.

Both activities aim to build capacity in the energy modelling community, a critical need as the Province advances the Energy Step Code and prioritizes decarbonizing and improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings. The EME can also serve as a sounding board to guide policymakers and key stakeholders that would benefit from an aggregation of energy modelling expertise.

The first quarterly meeting is expected to take place in October or November 2025.
