CleanBC NZER Workshops Series: High-Performance Prefabrication

October 20 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Overview

This event is free, which is made possible through funding from the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver. To support future ZEBx programming like this, please consider purchasing a ticket at a value of your choice (recommended amount for this workshop is $10-$50).

Join ZEBx and Integral Group for our next webinar in our Net-Zero Energy-Ready (NZER) Challenge Workshop series! Our panel of presenters will highlight three of the 11 NZER Challenge winning projects, all of which include modular and/or panelized prefabricated building components into their high-performance design. To top it off, we’ll also provide a high-level overview of the off-site construction industry in BC and shed some light on what the future holds for this burgeoning industry.

Prefabrication and modularization encompass factory-produced structural elements, volumetric units, and specialized “pods”. Although prefabrication and modular building are not new concepts, manufacturing processes continue to evolve – accommodating increased levels of automation and other innovations. Prefabricated elements are becoming increasingly common throughout the building industry. They promise high-quality products delivered on accelerated schedules, with predictable costs, and can assist in achieving high performance building and waste diversion goals.

About the CleanBC NZER Challenge Workshop Series

The “CleanBC Net-Zero Energy Ready Challenge: Workshop Series” consists of six unique workshops over nine deliveries that will run throughout 2020 with the objective to more rapidly advance solutions for zero emission buildings. Through the lens of BC’s most recently celebrated projects that are achieving the highest levels of the BC Energy Step Code and beyond (including Passive House, Canada Green Building Council’s (CaGBC) Zero Carbon Building Standard, LEED, and City of Vancouver Rezoning), participants will work with leading experts across industry silos to identify and advance emerging solutions as well as identify key barriers for scaling adoption.
