Overview

New Program Launch!

We are excited to launch our newest program series, Communities of Practice, aimed at sharing high-performance solutions and lessons learned in a casual and collaborative environment. Meet with BCIT’s instructors and industry experts, connect with passionate professionals from across the building sectors, discuss the latest net-zero energy ready products, details and systems, broaden your network, and get answers to your pressing project questions.

This month’s Communities of Practice event will be held at BCIT’s High Performance Building Lab. Get an up-close look at the next generation of net-zero or net-zero ready high rise wall assemblies through our full size mock-ups. Details include parapet, clear wall, window, slab and door systems that are applicable to all climate zones in Canada. This event builds off the overwhelming enthusiasm expressed from over 300 viewers during last month’s BC Housing Webinar, presented in partnership with ZEBx, BCIT, Flynn Canada, Morrison Hershfield, and Passive House Canada.

Experts in Residence

Dan Geddes, Business Development Manager – Flynn Canada Ltd., will give a brief presentation on the various products and systems used to build the mock-ups.

Patrick Roppel, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., Principal, Building Science Specialist – Morrison Hershfield, will highlight the various design details used to achieve a high performance level.

Neil Norris, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., Senior Technical Consultant – Passive House Canada, will be onsite to answer questions and provide insights on market trends for the Canadian construction industery, building envelope modelling and analysis, durability and thermal performance of building envelope systems, and Passive House certification and requirements.
